Training Built For Your Dog

At Recovery Dog Training, we focus on the dog in front of us. Every training plan is thoughtfully tailored to fit the unique needs of you and your dog—never a one-size-fits-all approach. We are flexible with our methods but always prioritize your dog’s long-term well-being, supporting both physical comfort and emotional stability. We welcome dogs of all sizes, breeds, and ages, whether you’re raising a new puppy, navigating new behaviors with an older dog, or simply looking to build a stronger, more enjoyable life together. Our goal is to provide expert guidance and support every step of the way.

Helping Dogs -And Owners- Thrive

We’re also here for owners who feel overwhelmed or unsure where to turn. If the thought of walking your dog around the neighborhood feels stressful, having visitors over seems impossible, or adding another pet to your home feels out of reach, you’re not alone. These challenges are common for owners of reactive or aggressive dogs—but meaningful change is possible. Through our structured behavioral rehabilitation programs in San Antonio, we help dogs and their owners build new patterns, confidence, and stability. With hundreds of rehabilitation cases behind us, Recovery Dog Training is here to guide you toward a calmer, more manageable life with your dog.

Our Programs

Private Training Lessons

Work one-on-one with a professional trainer to address your dog’s specific needs and your personal training goals. These customized sessions provide clear guidance, faster progress, and practical techniques you can confidently use at home.

Group Obedience Classes

Build reliable obedience while your dog learns to focus around real-world distractions. Our structured group classes improve manners, confidence, and social skills in a safe, controlled environment.

Behavioral Rehabilitation

For dogs struggling with aggression, reactivity, fear, or severe behavioral issues. We create structured rehabilitation plans that rebuild trust, improve control, and help your dog develop calm, balanced behavior.

Puppy Training

Set your puppy up for lifelong success with proper structure, socialization, and foundational obedience. Early training prevents common behavior problems and builds confidence during the most important developmental stage.

Board & Train

Accelerate your dog’s progress with our immersive training program. Your dog lives and trains with a professional daily, building solid obedience and behavior habits before transitioning the training back to you.

Structured Boarding

More than just boarding—your dog stays in a structured environment that reinforces calm behavior and good habits. Perfect for clients who want peace of mind knowing their dog is in experienced hands.

What Makes Our Training Different?

Intentionally Small for Better Results
We only accept 1–2 dogs into training at a time so every client receives focused attention, thoughtful training plans, and the highest level of care.

Customized Training for Every Dog
No two dogs are the same. Every program is designed around your dog’s personality, behavior, and learning style to create lasting success.

Built for Long-Term Success
We don’t rush through foundations for quick results. Our training focuses on strong fundamentals that create reliable behavior for the lifetime of your dog.

Training That Works in the Real World
Your dog will learn to listen anywhere. Commands are proofed around real-life distractions like other dogs, children, food, loud environments, and busy public spaces.

Lifetime Support for Owners
We don’t just train dogs—we teach owners. Our goal is to support you and your dog long after training ends. Free follow-up lessons, discounts on continued training education, access to boarding, and multi-dog discounts are all included in your enrollment.

A Personal Alternative to Corporate Training
We are proud to be a small business servicing San Antonio. Recovery Dog Training was built as an alternative to large corporate programs that focus on volume. We prioritize the individual dogs and families we serve, not numbers.

Kindra L.

Owner and full time operator

Hi, I’m Kindra Lewis, founder of Recovery Dog Training.

I specialize in helping anxious, reactive, and under-socialized dogs grow into more confident, reliable companions through patient, individualized training. After working with hundreds of dogs, I’ve learned that real progress comes from taking the time to truly understand each dog—not rushing the process.

I am a mom of 8 - one wild toddler, three rescue dogs, 2 rescue cats, and 2 house rabbits. When I’m not training, you’ll find me spending time with my family and pack, soaking up the sun, or watching nature documentaries.

How It Works - Starting Your Recovery Journey

Step 1: Let’s Talk
We’ll start with a conversation about your dog, your goals, and what’s been challenging. Sending photos and videos helps me get a clear picture of what you’re struggling with.

Step 2: Training Begins
Your dog will follow a personalized training plan designed around their individual needs. I’ll work one-on-one with them while keeping you updated daily with photos, videos, and guidance so you can stay connected every step of the way.

Step 3: You Feel Confident
On graduation day, I’ll guide you through how to handle your dog in real-life situations so you feel confident and the results are lasting.

Step 4: Enjoy The Freedom

You’ll have a dog you can confidently take anywhere. And if you ever need support, have questions, or need a trusted place for your dog to stay, I’m always here for you.
