How It Works - Starting Your Recovery Journey

Step 1: Let’s Talk
We’ll start with a conversation about your dog, your goals, and what’s been challenging. Sending photos and videos helps me get a clear picture of what you’re struggling with.

Step 2: Training Begins
Your dog will follow a personalized training plan designed around their individual needs. I’ll work one-on-one with them while keeping you updated daily with photos, videos, and guidance so you can stay connected every step of the way.

Step 3: You Feel Confident
On graduation day, I’ll guide you through how to handle your dog in real-life situations so you feel confident and the results are lasting.

Step 4: Enjoy The Freedom

You’ll have a dog you can confidently take anywhere. And if you ever need support, have questions, or need a trusted place for your dog to stay, I’m always here for you.

What Makes Our Training Different?

Intentionally Small for Better Results
We only accept 1–2 dogs into training at a time so every client receives focused attention, thoughtful training plans, and the highest level of care.

Customized Training for Every Dog
No two dogs are the same. Every program is designed around your dog’s personality, behavior, and learning style to create lasting success.

Built for Long-Term Success
We don’t rush through foundations for quick results. Our training focuses on strong fundamentals that create reliable behavior for the lifetime of your dog.

Training That Works in the Real World
Your dog will learn to listen anywhere. Commands are proofed around real-life distractions like other dogs, children, food, loud environments, and busy public spaces.

Lifetime Support for Owners
We don’t just train dogs—we teach owners. Our goal is to support you and your dog long after training ends. Free follow-up lessons, discounts on continued training education, access to boarding, and multi-dog discounts are all included in your enrollment.

A Personal Alternative to Corporate Training
We are proud to be a small business servicing the Boerne area. Recovery Dog Training was built as an alternative to large corporate programs that focus on volume. We prioritize the individual dogs and families we serve, not numbers.

We believe effective dog training goes beyond obedience—it’s about creating clear communication, trust, and lasting behavior change between you and your dog.

Every dog we work with is an individual. Behavior issues like anxiety, aggression, and reactivity don’t happen randomly; they are responses to stress, confusion, or traumatic experiences. Our approach focuses on understanding the why behind the behavior so we can address it at the root, not just manage the symptoms.

Training begins in calm, structured environments where dogs can learn without being overwhelmed. As skills improve, we gradually introduce real-world situations, helping your dog build confidence and learn how to stay composed around distractions and triggers.

We place a strong emphasis on teaching owners—not just training dogs. You’ll learn how to read your dog’s body language, apply commands effectively, and handle challenging situations with confidence. This creates a dog who not only listens, but looks to you for guidance.

Our methods prioritize fairness, structure, and timing. We use clear expectations and consistent communication to help dogs understand what is being asked of them, while reinforcing calm, appropriate behavior.

The goal is not perfection—it’s reliability. We aim to develop dogs who can be calmly and confidently managed in everyday life, even in the presence of distractions or stressors.

At the end of the day, successful training means giving both you and your dog the tools to navigate the world together with confidence.
